Bee Jays Take Advantage of Derby Mistakes

The Liberal Bee Jays scored in every inning but one on the way to a 10-1 win over the Derby Twins Monday night at Brent Gould Field.  The Twins aided the Bee Jays with 12 walks and five errors.

Liberal scored three in the first, one in the second, two in the third, and one in each of the next four innings.  Jake Harrison (4-1) is 4-0 in the Jayhawk League as he pitched seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts.

In the first, Owen Taylor walked to score a run and Blake Jenkins singled home two.  Liberal added a run in the second after singles by Brandon Urquizo and Marc Mumper.  Jenkins and Donny Ortiz drove home runs with ground balls in the third.  Cale O’Donnell tripled to right center to drive home a run in the fourth.  Kyle Knauth walked with the bases loaded in the fifth.  Two errors helped the Bee Jays scored in the sixth.  Four walks led to a BJ run in the seventh as Taylor walked with the bases loaded.

Liberal is 8-5 and Derby is 6-8.  Liberal hosts Derby Tuesday night at 7 with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
