Bee Jays Run Rule Roughriders

The Liberal Bee Jays have a 2.5 game lead in the Rocky Mountain League.  That’s after their 14-4 win over the Colorado Roughriders Sunday night at Brent Gould Field.  The game went seven innings.  The game was the hottest game of the season as it was 103 degrees at first pitch.

Liberal scored seven in the first.  Ryota Kusumoto led off the inning with a double.  Ben Merriman singled.  Miller Durham reached on an error to score a run.  Bobby Orr flicked a single to right to drive home a run.  Lane Snow singled home a run.  Matt Cormier provided an RBI single.  Matt Mendez walked with the bases loaded.  Ryota Kusumoto came back up for the second time in the first and ripped a two RBI double.  The B.J’s added two in the second.  Bobby Orr doubled down third.  Then Roughrider pitching walked three in a row and Joel Roberts got an RBI with a bases loaded walk.  Matt Cormier hit a sac fly.  The Bee Jays scored three in the third.  Miller Durham doubled with one out in the third.  Bobby Orr laced a two run home run to left center for his 10th of the season to give the Jays a 11-0 lead.  Julius Ramirez hit a towering home run over the scoreboard in left center for the 12-0 lead.  The Riders scored two in the fifth and the sixth to make it 12-4.  Matt Cormier ripped a home run to center in the sixth to make the score 13-4.  Jhett Huffman walked to lead off the seventh.  Brooks Kappelmann singled to left.  Miller Durham lined a single to left to score Huffman to end the game at 14-4.

Liberal out-hit the Roughriders 14-3.  Both teams had two errors a piece.  Bobby Orr was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 3-4 with a homer and a double with three RBI’s and three runs.  Mill Durham was 3-5.  Matt Cormier and Ryota Kusumoto had two hits a piece.

The Roughriders are 9-14 in the RMBL.  Liberal is 22-4 overall and 20-4 in the Rocky Mountain.  The Bee Jays host the second place Hays Larks Tuesday at 7pm at Brent Gould Field with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.  Rapid Fit is the buyout sponsor.
