The Liberal Bee Jays trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, but one swing of the bat would drastically change the momentum of the game. USC’s Mike Greco hit a three run home run off the top of the left field wall shortly after a run had scored on a wild pitch to give the BJ’s a 5-3 lead. Liberal added five more runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth. Western Nevada right hander Logan Odom pitched seven strong innings for the win. Liberal will play Junction City in another non-league game Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The High Plains Daily Leader will be the buyout sponsor. It will also be Bob Cerv day in Liberal as he will be presented a key to the city and honored at the game. Cerv played in the major leagues for several teams including the New York Yankees where he roomed with Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle the year they chased Babe Ruth’s home run record. Cerv also use to manage the Bee Jays. Cerv will be a guest on the Sportsguys Tuesday morning on Talkradio 1270, kscb.net, and Wind Jammer channel 8.
