The Liberal Bee Jays began their four game four day road trip with a 12-6 win over the Western Nebraska Pioneers in front of a big crowd at Oregon Trail Park Stadium in Gering Tuesday night. The Bee Jays build a 9-0 lead in the win.
The B.J.’s scored five with two outs in the second. Bobby Orr doubled down the third base line. With two outs, Lane Snow reached on an infield single for the 1-0 lead. Joel Roberts walked with the bases loaded for the 2-0 lead. Julius Ramirez muscled an RBI single over the shortstop to score two and make it 4-0 Bee Jays. Ben Merriman slapped a single to right for the 5-0 lead. In the fourth, Lane Snow singled and Joe Roberts walked ahead of a three run jack to left center by Julius Ramirez for the 8-0 lead. Lane Snow singled in the fifth and scored on Ben Merriman’s single for the 9-0 lead in the middle of the fifth. The Pioneers chased home three in the bottom of the fifth. Lane Snow singled home a run in the sixth for the 10-3 lead. Western Nebraska scored a run in the seventh to cut the B.J. lead to 10-4. Liberal scored two more insurance runs in the ninth and Ben Merriman grounded out to score a run and James Nolan singled home a run. The Pioneers scored two in the bottom of the ninth.
Liberal out-hit the Pioneers 15-7 but Liberal committed four errors and Western Nebraska had one. Lane Snow was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 4-6. Ben Merriman was 3-5 with three RBI’s. Julius Ramiez was 2-4 with five RBI’s. Bobby Orr and James Nolan added two hits. Hunter Phillips worked 4 and 2/3 with five strikeouts. Ashton Jenkins worked four innings. Logan Wadc recorded the last out.
Western Nebraska is 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the Rocky Mountain Baseball Leaugue. Liberal is 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the RMBL. The same two teams play Wednesday night at 7:35 central time on 1270 and 92.3.
