Bee Jays Hold Down Foxes

The Liberal Bee Jays opened their two game series in Fort Collins with a 7-2 win over the Foxes Thursday night at City Park. It was a 2-1 game until Liberal scored five in the ninth. B.J. pitching held the Foxes to a pair of run on six hits.
The game made it threw three scoreless innings before a lightning delay. The B.J.’s were the first to score in the fifth. Ben Merriman singled home a run. The Foxes answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth on one run and one error. Liberal took the lead with a run in the seventh. Matt Mendez lined a single to center with one out. Elijah Batista and Ben Merriman singled. Lane Snow hit a sac fly to right center for the 2-1 lead. The Bee Jays broke it open in the ninth. Elijah Batista singled to lead off the inning. Ben Merriman walked. Lane Snow singled home a run. Bobby Orr singled home a run. James Nolan singled home two runs. Tanner Gerosa added an RBI single.
Liberal out-hit Fort Collins 11-6. Parker King was the Epic Touch Player of the Game going five innings without allowing an earned run. He struck out three and walked one. Luke Steward worked two shutout innings. Rob Bonilla worked the last two inning with three strikeouts. Elijah Batista, Ben Merriman, and Lane Snow had two hits a piece.
Fort Collins is 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the Rocky Mountain. Liberal is 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the RMBL. The same two teams play Friday night at 7pm central time with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
