The Liberal Bee Jays woes continued Friday night as they were defeated by Derby 8-6.

Derby got off to a quick 6-0 start in the game. The Bee Jays cut the lead to 8-4 and had a near grand slam by Torrey Jacoby that went a few feet foul over the left field fence. The closest Liberal got was 8-6, but were unable to complete the rally.

Derby improves to 5-3 in the Jayhawk League. The Bee Jays fall to 6-8 overall and 4-6 in the league. They will host Derby again Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will air on 1270 AM and kscb.net.

Epic PCS will be the buyout sponsor. They will be giving away several prizes including chamber gift certificates.

Liberal area summer baseball teams will also be honored at the game and will run the bases in between innings.
