Bee Jays Down Dodge City in First Road Game

The Liberal Bee Jays won their first road game of the season Thurday night in Dodge City. The Jays took down the A’s 8-6 at Cavalier Field. The two Rocky Mountain League teams played in a non league game Thursday night.
The B.J.’s struck first with four in the third. Kai Smith ripped a home run to center to lead off the inning. Lane Snow added an RBI single to right and Joel Robert laced an RBI double to left. Bobby Orr lofted a sac fly to center for the 4-0 lead. The A’s answered with two in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Liberal scored three in the sixth to regain the lead. Matt Cormier and Kai Smith singled with one out. Elijah Batista launched a home run to left for the 7-4 lead. The Bee Jays added insurance in the ninth when Lane Snow lined a RBI single down the third base line.
The Bee Jays won despite four errors. DC had two errors. Hits were even at nine a piece. Parker King worked 4 and 2/3 allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts and one walk. Trevor Steele went 2 and 1/3 scoreless. Luke Steward worked a scoreless inning. Kai Smith was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 2-4 with a home run. Ben Merriman was 2-3 and got on base all five times scoring two runs. Lane Snow was 2-4 with two RBI’s.
Dodge City is 1-2 and Liberal is 3-1. The Bee Jays game Saturday with the Mile High Tribe is cancelled because the Tribe notified the B.J’s that they don’t have enough players for the games. So Liberal’s next game is Tuesday at 7:35 CST in Gering against Western Nebraska. The game airs on 1270 and 92.3 with B.J. Dugout Show at 7:20.
