Bee Jay Bats Come Alive to Sink Bat Cats

The Liberal Bee Jays gained an 18-10 win over the Great Bend Bat Cats Thursday night at Al Burns Memorial Field in Great Bend. The B.J.’s and Bat Cats split the series in Great Bend.
The Bee Jays used the big inning with a pair of six run innings. GB scored an unearned run in the first. Liberal scored six in the second. Jett Brown singled and stole second. Colden Kiser was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Owen May hit a sharp seeing eye single through the left side for a two RBI single. Ryota Kusumoto ripped an RBI double to right. Walker Polk hit a sacrifice fly. Great Bend countered with five runs on three walks and one HBP in the second to tie the game 6-6. In the third, Jett Brown and Colden Kiser singled. Walker Polk ripped a three RBI double off the fence in right center to make it 9-6 Liberal. The Bee Jays scored six runs in the fifth to lead 15-6. Jackson Schofield’s RBI single to left got the scoring started. Jett Brown launched a two RBI double off the wall in center. Coldon Kiser hit a two RBI double off the fence in left center. Great Bend scored single runs in the fifth and sixth and two in the seventh to make it 15-10. The B.J.’s plted two in the eighth when Luke Rhee rolled a two RBI single through the left side. Owen Barger was hit by a pitch in the ninth. He swiped second and third and scored on an error when he stole third for the 18th run.
Liberal out-hit the Bat Cats 16-13. Both teams committed three errors. Josh Doerr went three scoreless innings out of the BJ bullpen in his debut. Owen May was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 4-6. Jett Brown was 3-5 with a double.
Great Bend is 27-10 and Liberal is 27-11. The Bee Jays host Dodge City Friday night at 7pm for their final regular season game with coverage at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3. Equity Bank is the buyout sponsor.
