Bee Jays and Angels Split After Wild Rally

The Liberal Bee Jays erased an 11-2 deficit on the way to a 12-11 win over the Gameday Angels Sunday night at Double Angel Park. But the Angels won game two 4-3 for the split. The Bee Jays fall into second place in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League. The BJ games scheduled for Liberal on Saturday and Sunday night in Liberal were moved to Parker so the B.J.’s were the home team.
The Bee Jays struggled on the mound in game one walking ten. Isaac Webb singled in the first and scored on Ethan Calder’s line drive single to right. The Angels scored two in the first. Isaac Webb grounded out to score a run in the second the tie the game 2-2. The Angels scored four in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth for the 11-2 lead. The BJ’s scored three in the bottom of the fifth. Coldon Kiser doubled to lead off the inning. He would score on a wild pitch. Isaac Webb singled. After two walks, Ethan Calder hit a sac fly. Justin Hudson grounded out to score a run. Liberal scored six in the sixth to tie the game. An error began the inning. Coldon Kiser singled with one out. Isaac Webb singled home a run. Walker Polk grounded a two RBI double down the third baseline to make it 11-8. Ethan Calder singled home a run to make it 11-9. Mateo Garcia lined a two RBI single to right field to tie the game at 11-11. Liberal walked off game one on a Gameday error at third. Isaac Webb was the Epic Touch Player of the Game with a 3-5 game. Ethan Calder was 3-3 with three RBI’s. Coldon Kiser was 2-3. Konnar Williams pitched 2/3 for the win. Liberal out-hit Gameday 12-8. Gameday had three errors and Liberal had one.
The Bee Jays scored first in game one. Isaac Webb singled and stole second. He advanced to third on an error and scored on Ryota Kusumoto’s ground out. The Angels scored in the second. The B.J.’s took the lead 2-1 with a third inning run. Derek Lukes ripped a lead off double to right center. Isaac Webb doubled. Kusumoto grounded out to drive home the run. Former Saint Peter Goldy slammed a two run homer to left center to give the Angels the 3-2 lead in the fourth. Gameday added a fifth inning run as the Bee Jays committed two errors. The B.J.’s rallied in the seventh. Jett Brown led off with a single. Owen Barger walked with n0 outs. Luke Rhee singled and loaded the bases with one out. Isaac Webb’s sacrifice fly made it 4-3. After wild pitch, the tying run was on third with the winning run on second. But a ground out to short ended the game. Hunter Phillips gave Liberal a quality start going 4 and 1/3 with eight strikeouts. He allowed three earned runs. Colby Diduch was the Epich Touch Player of the Game striking out eight straight batters. Gameday out-hit Liberal 5-4. Liberal had two errors and Gameday had one.
Liberal is 16-5 overall and 9-2 and in second in the RMBL. Hays is 11-2. Gameday is 6-10 overall and 4-7 in the RMBL. Liberal plays at Colorado Springs Monday and Tuesday nights at 7pm central time with Bee Jay Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
