The Seward softball team traveled to Great Bend to open Jayhawk Conference play at Barton Thursday afternoon. The Cougars roared past the Saints 11-0 and 14-10.
In game one, SCCC only had two hits. Barton used an eight run third inning to break the game open. Barton added three in the fourth as the game ended after five due to run rule. In game two, Barton scored 11 in the first and coasted to the win. The Saints committed four errors. Seward’s bats came alive scoring one in the first, four in the third, two in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth. Barton out-hit Seward 16-14. Danica Kowalik was 4-4 with a home run. Alyssa Morgan was 3-4 with a home run and four runs.
Seward is 4-10 and Barton is 5-5. The Saints play at Pratt Saturday.
