Laura Martinez and Karan Richardson, Bank of America, recently presented Alicia Bird with a $1,000 check for the Seward County United Way, with Yeimi Quezuda, Bank of America, assisting. In addition to the $1,000 Bank of America Foundation check, Richardson gave Bird an additional $500 check from the local Bank of America branch. Bird, on the Seward County United Way Board and a member of the 50 th Anniversary Campaign Team, said “We really appreciate the support that Bank of America and its Foundation has shown through the years. They’ve been a great corporate partner with us and have given generously to the United Way as well as many of its agencies .” The Seward County United Way supports 28 local non-profit agencies and will kick off its 2012 campaign on Sept. 9. “We’re celebrating 50 years of United Way in our community this year,” said Bird, “and we hope that people will recognize what a difference United Way has made in Liberal. With the cutbacks in grant and government funding, our agencies are depending on United Way more than ever.”
