Liberal’s Aubrey Warden has committed to play basketball at Newman University in Wichita.  Warden tweeted her decision on Saturday.  Warden was named first team all WAC after averaging eight points and six rebounds a game for 23-0 Liberal.  She averaged six points and five rebounds a game as a sophomore and two a game as a freshman.  Newman was 11-17 last season.  Here is Warden’s tweet from Saturday.

“I am very excited to announce that I have verbally committed to Newman University.  First I want to than God for blessing me with the ability to play and allowing me to find a good fit.  I want to thank my family for the countless hours spent on the road and the amount of support they have given me from the start.  Thank you to my teammates for pushing me and encouraging me to get better every day.  Lastly I want to thank my coaches starting with Rod and Troy along with coach Kruger, coach Fowler, coach Durler, and coach Brooks.  I want to thank coach Joel Hannagan for helping me find my love for the game again and helping fulfill my goal of playing college basketball.  I want to thank coach Spencer and his staff for this opportunity and I cannot wait to join the Newman family.  Go Jets!”
