Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt today announced that Liberal Area Rape Crisis & Domestic Violence Service, Inc., has been awarded grants totaling $52,496 for its victims’ service programs. The grants awarded will fund the following projects: $10,000 to provide weekend shelter coverage and services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. $42,496 for a domestic violence and sexual assault safety, prevention, and awareness program. “Organizations throughout Kansas are key partners in providing essential services to crime victims,” Schmidt said. “We are proud to support the valuable work of these organizations.” These grants were awarded from the State Crime Victims’ Assistance Fund and Protection from Abuse Fund, which are financed though district court docket fees, fines, penalties and forfeitures, marriage license fees, county court costs and municipal court assessments. This year, the Attorney General’s Office awarded nearly $2 million in grants to local and state crime victim assistance organizations through the Victims’ Services Grants Program.
