Topeka, Kan. – Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, today, announced, that the Kansas Department of Insurance has made its annual distribution to local Firefighter Relief Associations (FRAs). The Friends of Arkalon Park will be holding a Birding Presentation and Nature Walk at Arkalon Park on Saturday July 6th. Things will get underway at the campground Bird Sanctuary at 9:00 am with a presentation from Dr. Jackie Augustine of Audubon Kansas. Jackie is the Executive Director of Audubon Kansas. She received her doctorate degree in Biology at Kansas State University studying the mating behavior of Greater Prairie Chickens. The Early Riser Kiwanis of Liberal will have Fresh Georgia Peaches and Pecans available Thursday, June 27th, Friday, June 28th and Saturday June 29th or while supplies lasth. They will be across from The Water Park. Cost is $50 for a full case, $30 for a 1/2 case and $10 for a bag of pecans. They will open at 8:00 A.M. The proceeds from this sale are used for the “Coats for Kids” program, providing winter coats for needy children, and other programs to help the children of our area, including scholarships.
