All 5 Suspects in Texas County Murders Appear in Court to Consider Consolidating Case

TEXAS COUNTY, Okla. (KFDA) – All five suspects charged with the murders of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley appeared in court Wednesday to consider consolidating the case and to set a preliminary trial date.
31-year-old Paul Grice, 43-year-old Tad Cullum, 54-year-old Tifany Adams, 50-year-old Cole Twombly and 44-year-old Cora Twombly, are all facing two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree.
The defense attorneys have until September 9 to submit their final arguments on whether or not all suspects should be tried together.
The next tentative hearing is set for September 18. On this date, the judge will decide if the suspects will be tried together or separately.
If they are tried separately, Cole Twombly’s preliminary hearing is set for December 17 at 9 a.m.
The judge approved the release of some personal items that belonged to Veronica and Jilian to their families.
Attorneys for the defendants also argued that their experts should be present for the testing of evidence, along with the state’s experts. No decision was made on that yesterdayy.
