Aggies Lose Hoops Heartbreaker

oodwell, Okla.-The 3-3 OPSU Aggies hosted the 2-4 Dallas Baptist Patriots
on Saturday afternoon in both teams’ first conference game, and from start
to finish it was the ultimate basketball game, but the only thing missing
was an Aggie W at the end of the game.

OPSU came out hot and jumped out to an early 12-5 lead with 17:15 left in
the first half. DBU climbed back to within two with just under 13 minutes
left, but the Aggies maintained control and went into halftime with a 46-39
advantage.

The Aggies cooled off to begin the second half and the Patriots slowly
shrunk the OPSU lead. With 16:49 left, DBU took their first lead of the ball
game with a score of 51-50. It remained a back-and-forth contest with the
lead changing until 8:30 remaining when DBU took a five point advantage and
started to pull away. With 3:40 left in the game, DBU jumped out to their
biggest lead with 88-75 on the scoreboard. OPSU was not about to give up and
go down without a fight and miraculously came back within one at the 30
second mark after scoring a quick 5 points following DBU turnovers. After
making one of two free throws, DBU was up by three with the final seconds
running off the clock. Brandon Caruthers threw up desperation shot that was
no good and the Aggies fell 94-91 to the Patriots.

T. J. Farrell led all scorers with 30 points, shooting 6-9 from behind the
three-point arc. Damar Hill, Krys Randolph, and Michael Patterson were also
in the double digits for points as Hill had 16, Randolph had 11, and
Patterson had 14. The Aggies fall to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play
and will host Paul Quinn College on Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m.
