Accused Bombing Suspect Wants Charges Dropped

Curtis Allen, one of three men accused of plotting to bomb an apartment complex housing Somali refugees in Garden City in 2016, seeks the dismissal of a federal charge he’s facing.

Specifically, a court document motions for the charge of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction to be dismissed.

Allen, Gavin Wright and Patrick Stein face the weapon-of-mass-destruction charge. The trio is also charged with conspiracy against civil rights. They’re accused of planning to detonate truck bombs in Garden City.

In the motion to dismiss the weapon-of-mass-destruction charge, a federal public defender representing Allen wrote, “The defense asks the Court to dismiss (the charge) as constitutionally defective.”

The request to drop the charge accompanied several motions.
