Accident South Of Turpin Claims The Life Of A Liberal Man

A fatality accident occurred Thursday morning at 5:45am, 2 miles south of Turpin, on US 83. A 2008 Dodge van being driven by Venancio Baltazar-Miguel, 18, of Liberal, was southbound os US 83 when a 2007 Ford pick up driven by Ramon Vizcarra Pacheco, 20, of Perryton Texas went left of center, striking the Dodge van, head on.

Venancio Baltazr-Miguel had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Turpin Fire Department, and was pronounced dead at the scene from head, leg, arm, and internal trunk injuries. Passenger Miguel Bocastro, 21, of Liberal, was taken to Southwest Medical Center, by Seward County EMS, and admitted in stable condition with head and arm injuries. A second passenger, Santiago I. Batz, 34, of Liberal, was taken to SWMC, by Seward County EMS and later transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, in stable condition, with head, leg, and neck injuries.

Ramon Vizcarra Pacheco was taken to SWMC by Seward County EMS, and was also later transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita in stable condition, with head, leg, arm, and internal trunk injuries.

This accident was investigated by Trooper Dustin McAtee #927 of the Harper County Detachment of Troop I.
