A fatality collision occurred on Tuesday morning at approximately 640am on U.S. Highway 64
at State Highway 171, approximately 3 miles south of Keyes, Oklahoma in Cimarron County.
A 1998 International Harvester Semi driven by Fabian Lee Flores,23, of Hereford, Texas was traveling northbound on State Highway 171. Flores attempted to
stop at the stop sign at the intersection of State Highway 171 and U.S. Highway 64. but failed to
properly stop at this stop sign. Flores entered into the intersection and struck a 2004 Dodge Stratus driven by Omar Cuevas,28, of Guymon,
Oklahoma. who was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 64.
Flores was transported by Keyes EMS to Cimarron County Hospital in Boise
City, Oklahoma. Treated and released.
Cuevas was transported by Keyes EMS to Cimarron County Hospital in Boise City, Oklahoma.
Then Flown by Apollo to North West Hospital in Amarillo, Texas due to massive head and
internal injuries where he later died.
Two passengers in the Cuevas vehicle, Miguel Antonio Mendoza- Ramirez age 22, of
Hardesty, Oklahoma, and Jorge Alejandro Rodriguez-Mendoza,26, of
Guymon, Oklahoma.were transported by Keyes EMS to Cimarron County Hospital in Boise City,
Oklahoma. Treated and released. A third passenger, Ismael Villa Ramirez age 50, of Guymon, Oklahoma, was
transported by Keyes EMS to Cimarron County Hospital in Boise City, Oklahoma. Then Flown
by Fixed Wing to North West Hospital in Amarillo, Texas due to leg, hip, and trunk internal injuries.
Cuevas and Ramirez were pinned for approximately 20 minutes and extricated by Keyes Fire Department.
Flores was arrested and transported to Cimarron County jail. He could face charges of manslaughter and failure to stop at a stop sign.
