For the first time this season, the Liberal Redskins have won two straight games. LHS beat Guymon 64-51 Tuesday night at the Big House for a season sweep. LHS head coach Drew Gruver says he liked his team’s effort in the game but they struggled taking care of the ball with 19 turnovers.

Liberal got off to a hot offensive start leading 25-12 and 25-14 after one quarter. The Tigers used a 13-2 second quarter run to get back in the game and LHS led just 37-34 at halftime. The Redskins led 49-48 before an Osvaldo Villareal three pointer made it 52-48 after three quarters. Liberal’s biggest lead was the final score.

Andre Jackson scored 14 to lead the 5-11 Redskins while DeVondre Livingston and Villareal scored 12 a piece. Guymon’s Matt Alexander scored 12 for the 9-11 Tigers.

Liberal moves into fourth place in their sub state with the win.

LHS hosts 4-10 Hays for homecoming Friday night at 7:45 on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Guymon goes to Hooker Friday.
