A Slow Start for Seward

KSCB News - August 24, 2012 1:03 pm

Seward proved they are not anywhere close to being the #14 team in the country Friday and Saturday. The good news is that it’s only August. Saturday, former Saint Shelby Forchtner’s New Mexico Military topped Seward (25-19, 25-22, 27-25). The Saints finally won two sets against Yavapai but Yavapai won (22-25, 25-10, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13).

Odessa and #11 Seminole State both beat Seward 3-0 Friday at the New Mexico Military Invitational in Roswell.

Former Seward assistant from 2006-2009 Alana Rowland and her Odessa team which was 14-21 last year, punished Seward (25-23, 25-17, 25-14).

Eleventh ranked Seminole State breezed by #14 Seward 3-0 Friday morning in the season opener in Roswell, New Mexico. The Saints began the game with three errors and had only two players with a positive hitting percentage as Seminole won (25-14, 26-24, 25-17). Liberal’s Lakeria Eatmon led Liberal with 10 kills. Only Eatmon and Bailey McFerren had positive hitting percentages.

The Saints are 0-4 and play at Barton Wednesday.
