A Seward County Fatality Accident Claims Life of a Garden City Man

A fatality accident occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 5:06am 1.1 mile south of US 83 and US 160 Junction in Seward County.

A 2002 Chevy Suburban being driven by Sergio Ortega, 45, of Garden City was south bound on US83, while a 2006 Peterbilt semi being driven by Santos Enriquez, 60, of Turpin OK was north bound on US 83. The semi crossed center line and struck the Suburban head on. Both vehicles came to rest in the west ditch.

Ortega died at the scene. Enriquez was taken to Southwest medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
