Saints Let First Place Opportunity Slip Away

The Saints hoped to finish the weekend in first place in the Jayhawk West with a series win over first place Butler. But the Saints will settle for a three way tie for second after splitting Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, the Grizzlies won game one 8-4 after the Saints allowed six unearned runs. The Saints won the second game Saturday 7-5 after Luke Campbell’s two RBI hit in the bottom of the fifth broke a 5-5 tie. Corey Collins pitched five and one third innings for the win (5-0). Travis Parker nailed down the save. Sunday, Perryton’s Austin Terhune pitched six innings striking out four and walking one for the win (2-1). Parker tied the school record with his sixth save tying Chase Campbell’s mark from 2003. Parker passes Robbie McClellan who saved five in 2001. The Grizzlies won the final game of the series 13-3. Butler is 17-11 overall and leading the Jayhawk West at 11-5. Seward is in a three way tie for second with Colby and Garden City at 7-5. Seward is 18-10 overall. The Saints play a four game series at Barton with double headers Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
