A Woodward County judge has scheduled a
Dec. 14 trial date for a man charged with first-degree murder in
the death of his friend.
Richard Wayne Conway is accused of the fatal shooting of Cheryl
Roberts, who shot while she was visiting Conway’s home Nov. 3.
Roberts died the next day in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Police have alleged that Conway told them during an interview
that he became upset after he and Roberts argued, and then he shot
her. Conway has pleaded not guilty.
Conway’s attorney, Cynthia Viol, and prosecutors said they have
agreed to provide each other with discovery materials at least 30
days before the trial starts.
The judge scheduled an Oct. 28 status hearing in the case.
