Saints Complete Sweep of Pratt

For the first time since 2016, the Seward County Saints sweep the Pratt Beavers in a four game series.  After a pair of wins Wednesday in Liberal, the Saints took two over the Beavers Sunday 9-7 and 5-2 at Stanion Field in Pratt.  The Saints rallied to win each game of the series.

In game one, it was a fast start for the home team.  Pratt scored five runs on five hits and two Seward  errors.  The Saints broke through with an eight run second.  Brooks Barber singled.  Blaine Chancy walked and Grant Cox was hit by a pitch.  Jacob Urias singled home a run.  Colton Rowan walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-2.  Nathan Hopkins also walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-3.  Kotaro Wakui walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-4.  Hayden Ramage rolled a two RBI single through the left side for a 6-5 lead.  A run scored on a wild pitch.  Grant Cox added an RBI single for the 8-5 lead. Pratt scored one in the third and one in the fourth to make it 8-7.  Seward added insurance in the sixth when Hayden Ramage ripped a home run over the left field wall.  It was his eighth of the season.  Ramage was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 2-3 with a home and three RBI’s.  Ashton Creighton pitched six strong innings allowing three earned runs with four strikeouts and no walks.  Grant Cox and Jacob Urias added two hits a piece.  Koshiro Ohno worked a scoreless seventh for his second save.  Seward out-hit Pratt 8-7.  Seward won despite three errors.  Pratt walked 13 Saints.

In game two, Pratt struck for two in the third when Seward dropped a fly ball in left.  Seward plated three in the fifth to lead 3-2.  Grant Cox, Blaine Chancy, and Jacob Urias singled to lead off the inning.  Jacob Urias grounded out to score a run.  Nathan Hopkins singled.  Kotaro Wakui rolled a two RBI single through the right side for the 3-2 lead.  Seward added insurance in the ninth.  Grant Cox singled.  Blaine Chancey reached on an error on a bunt.  Jacob Urias laid down a sac bunt.  Nathan Hopkins lofted a sac fly to deep center.  Kotaro Wakui singled home a run.  Logan Tice pitched four innings allowing two runs.  Aldo Ostos went four shutout innings with four strikeouts and one walk.  John Langehennig worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.  Seward out-hit Pratt 9-5.

Seward has won nine of their last 12.  Pratt has lost nine straight and is 12-38 overall and 5-23 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward is 25-26 overall and 12-16 in the Jayhawk West.  The Saints play at Dodge City Thursday at 1pm for a double header.
