Jewell Nadine Belt, age 90, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas after living a life marked by kindness and unwavering love.
She was born on December 29, 1934, in Gate, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Ruby Alta (White) Oswald.
Nadine graduated from Gate Oklahoma High School in 1952. She devoted 11 years with the Seward County Clerk’s office as an accounting clerk followed by 12 years of her life working diligently in the Traffic and Small Claims for the Seward County District Court as a clerk, leaving a legacy of professionalism and integrity.
On May 4, 1952, Nadine was united in marriage to Harold Henry Stabel, he preceded her in death in August 1969. As a loving mother to her two beloved children, Randal and Geraldine, Nadine’s heart was one of nurturing devotion. On July 4, 1974, Nadine was united in marriage to her 2nd husband, Alvin Marion Belt in Liberal, Kansas. Alvin passed away on March 31, 2016.
Nadine’s spirit was anchored in faith, as she was a cherished member of the First Nazarene Church in Liberal, where she was the pianist for 25 years. She had a passion for traveling to the mountains, playing the piano, tending to her flower garden and she truly loved being with her family. She was also a devoted Mary Kay consultant for 25 years. Her legacy will continue to warm the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Geraldine Barrows, and Geraldine’s loving husband, Larry, of Liberal, Kansas,

Five grandchildren, granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Stabel,
Justin Stabel, and his wife Aryn,
Jeff Stabel,
Jamie Anderson and her husband, Jerrod, and
Leslie Kruger and her husband, Troy,
Seven great grandchildren,
Aydenlee Stabel,
Ashley and Zachary Stabel,
Morgan and Max Anderson,
Talia and Lukas Kruger.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Ruby Oswald,
son Randal Stabel,
brother, Everett “Toadie” Oswald, and
grandson, Jeremy Stabel.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2025. The family will be present from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, both at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 18, 2025, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2211 Zinnia Lane, Liberal, Kansas with Pastors, Dave Hoffman, Arlen Ankle, and Elizabeth Morgan presiding.
Interment will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Liberal Cemetery.
