COLBY, Kan. – Four wins during a six-game week for Seward County Community College along with a conference series sweep for Barton Community College has led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Baseball West Division Player of the Week honors for Saint catcher Hayden Ramage and Cougar starting pitcher Ethan Minaker.
Hayden Ramage – Seward County (KJCCC Baseball West Division Player of the Week) Ramage helped Seward County go 4-2 during a six-game week last week as the Saints’ offense erupted for 74 runs during the week. Batting .560 for the week with 14 hits in 25 at-bats, Ramage collected six extra-base hits, which included four home runs while driving in 15 RBI and scoring 11 times. Recording at least one hit in all six games, Ramage had a pair of four-hit games against Colby as SCCC took three of four games from the Trojans to help Seward County pick up a series victory over one of the top teams in the KJCCC West Division.
Ethan Minaker – Barton (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Ethan Minaker turned in his best performance of the season Saturday to help number 24-ranked Barton to a series sweep of Garden City. Recording a pair of collegiate bests in his outing, Minaker threw his first complete game shutout with a best of eight strikeouts. The sophomore yielded just six hits and walked a pair on 94 pitches in the winning effort.
