Liberal’s King Competes in PBA Regional

Josh King, a rising competitor in the bowling world and student-athlete from Ottawa University, proudly announces his successful debut in his first-ever Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Regional tournament. The Firelake Southwest Open at Firelake Lanes in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Demonstrating focus, resilience, and competitive edge, King made it through the first cut—an impressive milestone for any new PBA competitor.

“This experience was unforgettable,” said King. “Going into my first PBA Regional, I just wanted to make it through the qualifying round. I finished 14th out of 96 bowlers. Making the first cut means a lot to me—it’s a sign that all the hard work and preparation is paying off.”

Competing against seasoned professionals and emerging talent alike, King remained consistent throughout qualifying rounds posting scores of 156, 243, 201, 235, 257, 243, 186,and 224 , proving he belongs on the lanes with some of the best. As a current member of the Ottawa University Braves bowling team, King credits his success to the support from his teammates, coaches, family,  and community back home in Liberal, Kansas.

“This is just the beginning,” he added. “I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and competing at the highest level I can.”

King’s journey in the PBA is just getting started. With a solid first performance under his belt, by finishing 24th overall, he’s looking forward to future regionals and making a name for himself in professional bowling.
