The LHS tennis boys competed hard in Olathe against some of the top state qualifiers in Kansas. Teams competing were Olathe South, Olathe East, Andover Central, Ark City, Manhattan and Mill Valley. Andover Central took first place overall. We got to take a few of our younger guys due to the home track meet taking one our guys and other prior engagements.
There were 16 players in singles and 16 teams in Doubles.
Emmanuel Garcia finished in 7th place, going 2-2 on the day. He had 2 good wins over the top two singles players from Olathe East.
J’Kobe Contreras finished 16th by going 0-4 but gained valuable experience against some great competition. He came back better than he left.
Parker Brown & Quinn Brown fought hard and finished 1-3 with a tie-breaker win over Olathe South and 2 close losses to another Olathe South team and an Olathe East team that placed highly in the tournament. This was their first tournament play together so they will have a good season.
Easton Martinez & Edgar Galindo finished 0-4 but also learned a lot as they are still new to the game. This was their first varsity tournament and they battled as hard as they could all day.
The Redskins travel to Haysville-Campus on Tuesday and travel a little north to Valley Center on Wednesday.
