Saints Sweep Thunderbirds

Seward County worked overtime for a game one win then run ruled Cloud County (10-10, 4-6) Saturday in Concordia. The Saints won the first game 10-8 in eight innings and won the second game 10-0 in five innings. In game one, the Saints built an 8-3 lead going to the bottom of the fourth. The Saints led 8-4 going to the bottom of the seventh but the T-Bird tied the game at eight. Pinch runner Kelby Tomlinson scored the lead run on a wild pitch. Travis Parker hit a homer in the bottom of the inning and came on to pitch a perfect eighth inning for the win. Parker went 4-5 with a homer. Todd Glime went 4-4. Luke Campbell went 2-5 with a double and his first homer this season. The Saints dominated game two by scoring seven runs in the fourth and handing the ball to Corey Collins who improves to 4-0 after the shutout win. Parker went 3-3 with his fifth homer making him 7-8 with two homers on the day. Glime homered making him 5-8 on the day. Mikel Huston was 2-3 with three RBI’s in game two and a 4-8 day. Billy Ninemire was 2-2 with an RBI in game two and Keegan Morrow went 2-4 in game two. The Saints hand the ball to Austin Terhune in game three of the series today at 1 pm in Concordia. Both games of the double header will air today on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
