Saints Bring the Bats to Lamar

The Seward baseball team grabbed a much needed mid week win over the Lamar Antelopes Tuesday afternoon in Lamar.  Seward out hit Lamar won 18-10 over the Lopes after scoring only nine runs in a four game series against Barton.  The Saints slugged six home runs in the win.

The Saints plated five in the first before the Lopes scored single runs in the first, second, and third.  Seward added a fourth inning run before Lamar took an 8-6 lead with a four run fourth.  The Saints scored one in the sixth to make it 8-7 but Lamar scored three to lead 11-7.  But the “Guys in Green” finished the game strongly with four in the seventh and seven in the eighth.

Grant Cox and Nathan Hopkins hit two home runs a piece.  Jackson Phillips and Brooks Barber added round trippers.  Nathan Hopkins was 3-4 with four runs while Kotaro Wakui went 3-5 with four RBI’s.  Grant Cox was 2-4 with four RBI’s and three runs.  Jacskon Phillips was 2-4 with two RBI’s and three runs.  Brooks Barber was 2-5 with three RBI’s and two runs.  Ryan Todd was 2-3.  Koshiro Ohno pitched two shutout innings and Michael Lujan closed it out with a scoreless ninth.

Both teams are 10-13.  Seward hosts Redlands Friday and Saturday at 1pm at Brent Gould Field.
