This year, two seniors from the TCEC service area had an amazing time at the Oklahoma Youth Leadership Summit! Jaxon Lehnert from Turpin High School and Kamryn Ott from Forgan High School each received $500 scholarships and attended this special event on March 17 during the Oklahoma Youth Expo. They learned valuable leadership skills and met important leaders from all over the state.
In another exciting update, TCEC is thrilled to announce that three local high school juniors have been chosen for an unforgettable trip to Washington, D.C.! This June, Valentina Barojas from Guymon High School, along with Tatum Boyd and Reagan Fowler from Turpin High School, will attend the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. They will explore the nation’s capital, visiting famous monuments and landmarks that are key to American history.
This July, juniors Scout Rorabaugh from Turpin High School and Madison Wiggin from Yarbrough Public School are set for an exciting outdoor adventure at the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. This week-long camp will include a visit to the Craig Power Station, a major energy site, and lots of fun outdoor activities.
Additionally, three creative eighth-grade students wrote essays on how to improve energy efficiency in their schools. Their reward? An amazing four-day trip to Energy Camp outside Hinton, Oklahoma! Breezie Berguetski, Grant Scheller, and Conner Larson from Boise City Junior High will enjoy activities like swimming, hiking, and go-cart racing while learning about rural electrification.
TCEC is committed to helping its young members grow and learn by providing them with opportunities to explore new places and better understand the electric cooperative industry.
