Garden City Sinks Saints for 26th Loss

The Seward County Saints finish the season with a school record 26th loss after a 75-65 loss to the Garden City Broncbusters in the Green House Wednesday night.  It was Seward’s last game as they finished in last place and out of the Region 6 Tournament.

Seward took an early 9-8 lead.  The Broncbusters rallied to lead 15-9 and 17-11.  The Busters coasted into the halftime locker room with a 35-21 lead.  The GCCC lead ballooned to 53-28 in the second half.  Seward played better in the second half out scoring Garden City 44-40.

Seward shot 51 percent from the field making 2-13 from three point range and 9-10 at the foul line.  Garden City shot 54 percent making 13-24 from three and 8-12 from the free throw line.  Seward out rebounded the Busters 31-22.  Seward had 14 turnovers and Garden had nine as the Broncbusters led points off turnovers 18-8.

Loic Affoumon was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Muhammed Jobe had 16 points.  Benni Kazadi scored 13.  Carson Bennett scored 12 in his last game in the Green House.  He finishes seventh in all time three pointers made at SCCC with 122.

Garden City is 17-13 overall and finishes 12-12 in the Jayhawk.  Seward loses their 11th straight finishing 3-26 overall and 2-22 in the Jayhawk.  The 1978 Saints were 4-25.
