On Saturday, March 1, Liberal Wrestling Club traveled to Colorado to compete at the
Eads Junior Olympic Tournament. The tournament awarded two outstanding wrestler awards,
an older age group and a younger age group. Receiving the older age group award was
Liberal’s, Iovani Chavez.
Liberal Wrestling Club has never attended this tournament. They did not have a girls
division so the girls were mixed in with the boys but that did not stop our wrestlers. “LWC
showed up unrecognized to a new tournament, represented very well and left with the LWC
name being known by all who attended,” Coach Bill Holcomb said.
Team results are as follows:
8U:
Alyvia Holcomb, 2nd, 2 pins
Alyvia Holcomb, 3rd, 2 pins
10U:
Ian Holcomb, 1st, 2 tech falls
12U:

Cesar Almazan, 2nd, 3 pins
