Leonor Garcia Noblejas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leonor Garcia Noblejas. She passed peacefully in her sleep in her daughter’s home on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Leonor was born on April 11, 1942, in Tanauan, Batangas, Philippines, to Francisco Burgos Garcia and Isabel Castillo Garcia. There began the extensive multicultural influences that led to the unique foundation of her life. Undergirding this foundation was her inexorable faith in the Jesus and Mama Mary. As the eldest child by nine years, she welcomed her two sisters and baby brother.

Leonor attended St Theresa’s College in Manila before she and her husband, Oscar, immigrated to the United States in 1966, setting in Northern Virginia. Later, she earned her MBA from Strayer University in Washington, DC. She was very proud of her 4.0!

While Leonor’s children were very young, she stayed home to care for them. When they grew older, she held many different leadership and professional roles. Her favorite was working as a travel agent as she was able to experience and share the various cultures of the most exotic locations. At her final position in administration at Stayer University, She inspired her students, passionately encouraging them in their chosen endeavors. Leonor loved teaching, volunteering to teach catechism to second and third graders at her churches in Virginia and San Diego. A tireless prayer warrior, she had a direct line to God, praying for family, friends, friends of family, and even traumatized clients of her psychologist daughter, not even knowing who they were.

Immersing herself in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, Leonor cherished her time with her daughters and their families. She devoted extra love and care for her youngest granddaughter, Catalina, who has autism caused by the genetic disorder, Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. Leonor pampered the family dogs, Misha and Potato, caring for them as her own children. Always the life of the party, she enhanced any occasion with her singular personality. She enriched the lives of those she touched with so many joyous memories. She loved quoting Shakespeare and was a master at crossword puzzles and Wordle at age 82. Leonor meticulously cared for her plants, nurturing orchids, peace lilies, honey suckle, banjo, and corn plants. She treasured participating in yoga classes. She enjoyed laughing and eating food from all cuisines. As we imagine heaven for her, we think of palmiers, ube, cheesecake, brownies, and all the beloved dogs from her life, surrounded by those who love her.

Leonor is survived by her daughters, Maria Lauralynn Noblejas and her husband John Randell Moore of Liberal, Kansas; and Michelle G. Noblejas-Bartolomei, her husband Rico Bartolomei; her grandchildren, Dylan Noblejas Bartolomei, Cassidy Noblejas Bartolomei, Alannah Carmela Bartolomei, Barrett Antonio Bartolomei, and Catalina Solange Bartolomei of San Diego, California; and her siblings, Frances Garcia Sauvé her husband, Mark Sauvé; Beth Garcia Rabuy; and Johnny C.
