COLBY, Kan. – Seward County Community College freshman first baseman Blaine Chancy and Dodge City freshman relief pitcher Javier Pena have been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Baseball West Division Players of the Week following their performances for the week of February 17-23.
Blaine Chancy – Seward County (KJCCC Baseball West Division Player of the Week)
Seward County freshman Blaine Chancy slugged 1.222 last week in a four-game series at Vernon College with five hits in nine at-bats with four hits going for extra bases. Driving in four runs over the weekend, Chancy also scored three times and had a .636 on-base percentage.
Javier Pena – Dodge City (KJCCC Baseball West Division Pitcher of the Week)
Javier Pena was strong out of the bullpen for Dodge City in the first game of a three-game series with Kansas City Kansas by tossing a scoreless 2.2 innings of work to help keep the Conquistadors in the game late. The freshman did not give up a base runner during his time on the mound and struck out two batters.
