A fatality accident occurred early Sunday morning at approximately 1:53 am .2 mile East of US83, and about 2.5miles north on US83, North of Liberal.

A 2009 Dodge Charger being driven by Augustus J. Riley, 16, of Liberal, was Eastbound on Seward County Road 9 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of US83 and Road 9 becoming airborne. The Charger landed to the East of US83 on Road 9 where the driver lost control. The vehicle entered a side skid before entering the South ditch. The Charger rolled an unknown number of times prior to coming to a stop when it struck a power pole. The vehicle came to rest facing East.

Riley died at the scene of the accident.
