Liberal, KS- Southwest Medical Center is proud to welcome Tanya Pittman, M.D., as the newest addition to the 15th Street Family Care Center. Dr. Pittman, a Liberal native, brings over 28 years of medical experience to the community and is now accepting new patients.

Dr. Pittman’s journey in medicine was inspired by her own health experiences in junior high, when the compassionate care she received from physicians motivated her to pursue a medical career. She earned her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, and completed her residency at Smoky Hill Family Practice in Salina, Kansas, in 1996.

She began her career in family medicine in Ulysses, Kansas, where she practiced from 1996 to 2003. After many years working in emergency medicine—including previous roles at Southwest Medical Center’s Emergency Room, St. Francis in Topeka, Garden City, and most recently at CommonSpirit in Dodge City—Dr. Pittman transitioned back to family medicine, practicing in Elkhart from 2019 to 2022.

“I’m from here,” Dr. Pittman shared. “Liberal is home. The people here—friends, family—are what make this community special, and I’m honored to be back to take care of them.”

Dr. Pittman will be providing family medicine and internal medicine services at the 15th Street Family Care Center, located at 555 W. 15th Street in Liberal, Kansas. She is accepting new patients of all ages and takes most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid.
