After another Seward player has been sidelined with a medical condition, the Seward County Saints are down to seven players. The Saints seven couldn’t muster enough in a 73-58 loss to the visiting Dodge City Conquistadors Saturday afternoon and evening in the Green House. It’s Dodge City fifth straight win in Liberal.
Dodge City led 29-24 at the half. Dodge City played much better offense in the second half shooting 61 percent and leading by as many as 20 at 54-34.
Seward shot 43 percent making 5-16 from three and 7-9 at the foul line. DC3 shot 48 percent. The team with the worst three point shooting percentage in the Jayhawk (30%) made 10-20 three’s and 9-12 from the foul line. Seward out rebounded Dodge city 33-28. Seward had 12 turnovers and DCCC had seven.
Nfaba Mane was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 11 points and seven rebounds. Kiku Parker added 11. Loic Affoumon added 11 points and five rebounds. Muhammed Jobe had 10. Beeni Kazadi had seven points and eight rebounds.
Dodge City is 10-14 overall and 7-11 in the Jayhawk. The Conqs have won four of their last five and are 8-3 in road games despite a 1-9 road record. Seward is 3-19 overall and 2-15 in the Jayhawk. Seward is 1-10 at home. The Saints play at Barton Wednesday night at 7:30 on 107.5.
