Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson and state

Agriculture Secretary Josh Svaty planned to make their annual wheat

harvest tour on Monday.

This year’s event was scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday at

the farm of Mark and Marne Hewitt south of Beloit, in north-central

Kansas.

The tour typically involves the governor getting on a combine,

cutting a few swaths of wheat and talking to farmers about the

harvest.

This is Parkinson’s second harvest as governor. Last year’s

event was held at a farm in the Colby area.
