Douglas Omar Bell

Douglas Omar Bell, age 82, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Born on March 9, 1942, in Satanta, Kansas, he was the son of William Andrew and Mary Emma (Cadman) Bell.

On February 13, 1969, Douglas married Patricia Lee Jones in Stratford, Texas, forming a union that blessed them with four children: Misty, Billy, Tracy and Jamie. His family remained his top priority throughout his life, and he took great joy in watching them participate in various sports, as well as supporting his beloved Kansas University basketball team. In addition to his family, Douglas had a passion for maintaining a beautiful yard.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bell; children, Misty Slemp and her husband Kevin, Billy Bell and his wife Stephanie, Tracy Willis and her husband Brian, all of Moscow, KS, and Jamie Bell and his wife Reva of De Soto, KS, He also leaves behind his brother, Jim Bell and his wife Lorene of Moscow, KS; four sisters, Helen Felizen of Park City, KS, Karen Ashbaugh of Ellis, KS, Kay Thompson and her husband Dick of Kansas City, MO, and Rhonda Fondable and her husband Glen of Ellis, KS; as well as ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Jack Bell, Mildred Cassidy, Dorothy Ladnier, and Alley Bell; his great-granddaughter, Maggie Dahn Phillips; and his nephew, Joshua Barker.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund for the City of Moscow Park Beautification. Contributions may be mailed to Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 2 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton. The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2 PM at Moscow Christian Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastor Patty Lahey, with burial to follow at Moscow Cemetery in Moscow, Kansas.
