Librado Hernandez

Librado Hernandez, age 85, died Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on January 10, 1940, in San Antonio, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Victor and Ricarda (Armendariz) Hernandez.

Librado grew up in Mexico and married Felisa Galindo. He played bass guitar for Los Humildes del Alamo. He loved music, dancing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Librado loved telling jokes and keeping his family joyful. He was extremely crafty and could fix anything. He always kept busy working on different projects.

Librado came to the United States as a migrant worker and helped farmers with whatever he could. He worked with Genzo Akagi and was recommended by Genzo for his next job, Five Rivers in Grant County where he worked until his retirement in 2018. He never complained about work and took pride in providing a better life for his family.

A man of God, he took the time to teach the Word to his kids and grandkids. He also faithfully served his Lord by playing for the Catholic church during masses.

Librado is survived by his wife Felisa of 57 years; children, Argelia Hernandez of Garden City, Kansas, Victor Hernandez of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Nidia Gallegos of Ulysses, Kansas, and Elieser Banegas of Ulysses, Kansas; and eight grandchildren, Alexis, Edgar and Aldo Balderrama, Xavier and Lluvia Gallegos, and Victor, Jaime and Briana Hernandez.

Librado is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ricarda Hernandez, eight siblings, and son, Genaro Hernandez Galindo.
  
Rosary will be Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM with funeral mass following at 7:00 PM at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
