The Redskin wrestling boys and girls competed at the Rocky Welton Invitational Friday and Saturday in Garden City.

Girls overall took 4th out of 25 teams with 118.5 points.

Liberal High School’s girls’ wrestling team placed 4th at the 4th Annual Rocky Welton Invitational, scoring 118.5 team points. Hayleen Martinez (190) dominated her bracket, securing 1st place including a decisive 5-1 win in the finals. Isabella Gutierrez (110) and Aileen Figueroa (235) both placed 3rd. Evelyn Sandoval (155) took 4th, while Keirsie Carlile (100) and Liliana Santiago (135) each placed 5th, earning valuable team points.

Other competitors, including Genesis Orrantia (105) and Alexa Valenzuela (130), won matches but did not place. Nicole Catalan (140) and Ingrid Padilla (235) also competed but fell short of placement. Despite tough competition, Liberal’s wrestlers showcased resilience, with multiple podium finishes and strong individual performances, setting a solid foundation for future tournaments.

 
Liberal High School boys competed at the 67th Annual Rocky Welton Invitational, with several wrestlers securing placements and earning team points. Brian Casas (113) placed 15th and Mathew Trejo (215) finished 11th. AC Gomez (138) placed 16th while Julian Orrantia (120) added 3.5 points. Other wrestlers, including Aaron Munoz (126), Favian Ortega (132), Fabian Delacruz (144), Oscar Pablo (157), Zayden Norez (175), and Alan Padilla (190), competed but did not place. Despite some tough matches, Liberal’s wrestlers gained valuable experience against strong competition.
