Ruby Maxine (Swain) Russell, age 86, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born on April 16, 1938, in Ravia, Oklahoma, the daughter of Millard and Geneiva (Coffey) Swain.

Ruby owned and operated Ruby’s Florals in Port Aranas, Texas. She enjoyed fishing and ran a charter boat for fishing trips. When she had time, Ruby enjoyed making crafts. She moved to Ulysses in 2016. Ruby married Wayne Eugene (Gene) Salem on July 19, 1953, in Dodge City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1981. Ruby then married Charles Russell; he also preceded her in death.

Ruby is survived by her son, Danny Salem and wife, Janice, of Ulysses; daughters, Cindy Daniel and husband, Tom, of Ford, Kansas, and Deb Shaw of Farmington, Missouri; brothers, Jerry Swain and Wayne Swain both of Garland, Texas, and David Swain of California; 48 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren; and her fur baby, Cuddles.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Gene Salem and Charles Russell; son, Darrell Salem in 1987; sisters, Ann, Thalia and Sherry; and brothers, Harold, Dennis and Larry.
