Sen. Moran Officially Becomes Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the Senate Republican Conference ratified U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Following the designation, Sen. Moran released the following statement:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and I look forward to working on behalf of the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces, as well as their families, caregivers and survivors.

“The work we do on the committee is and will continue to be driven by the voices of veterans in Kansas and across the country. Through casework and conversations at home and in Washington, D.C., veterans have brought their challenges with VA and their hopes for a brighter future to our attention. It is these conversations that will help drive the work of the committee to meet the needs and address the challenges of all veterans.

“I look forward to working with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), former Congressman Doug Collins and President Donald Trump to provide veterans with timely, convenient and high-quality health care and benefits. We will also hold the VA accountable and work to empower veterans so they can achieve success after service.”

Sen. Moran has worked throughout his time in Congress to improve the quality of life for the nearly 250,000 veterans living in Kansas. He has served on both the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs and served as both ranking member and chairman of the committee.

In this role, Sen. Moran will build on previous legislative accomplishments including the SFC Heath Robinson PACT Act, delivering to toxic-exposed veterans their earned health care and benefits; the John Scott Hannon Act, bolstering veterans’ access to mental health and suicide prevention resources; and the VA MISSION Act, empowering veterans and providing them with the timely and quality care they deserve.
