Donald D. Knier Sr., Hugoton, known as “Donnie,” passed away on December 17, 2024, in Kiowa County, Kansas.

Donnie was born on September 10, 1941, in Hugoton, Kansas, he was the son of Scherel and Gertrude LaVaun (Haight) Knier.

Donnie was a lifetime resident of Stevens County, Kansas and he was a third-generation farmer.

Donnie and Peggy Ann Kirkland were married in 1959 and to this union were three children, Donnie Jr., David and Denise. They were later divorced.

Later Donnie and Naomi Decker were married in 1994 in Hugoton. Donnie gained a daughter, Lori.

Donnie was a true craftsman, leaving his mark as a farmer, cabinet maker, and a builder of custom houses. His work not only provided for his family but also enhanced the lives of his family and friends.

He enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction that came from rebuilding vehicles, a testament to his resourcefulness and skill. Time spent at the family cabin in Colorado brought him joy and relaxation, where he made lasting memories with loved ones and the beauty of nature.

Donnie is survived by two sons, Donnie Knier Jr. and his wife, Tonya, and David Knier all of Hugoton, KS; a daughter, Lori Carroll and her husband, Kelly, of Pampa, TX; and a son-in-law, Jan Leonard and companion Julie Hefner of Goddard, KS.; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Raney of Hugoton, KS, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Naomi (Decker) Knier; his daughter, Denise Knier Leonard; and his sister, Vonda Raney.

In lieu of flowers; a memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities, in the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

A book signing will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hugoton Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date.

Donald D. Knier Sr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
