Shamari Lewis scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Kamilah Delgado grabbed 14 rebounds. But it wasn’t enough in a 45-44 loss to the Woodward Boomerettes at Boomer Fieldhouse in Woodward Saturday afternoon.
The Boomerettes bolted out to a 16-12 lead after one and led 27-22 at the half. Woodward connected on 5-9 three point attempts in the first half. Woodward led 33-24 after three as starting point guard Kylie Rhine and Shamari Lewis were sidelined by foul trouble. Woodward’s biggest lead was 11 at 35-24. Liberal cut the lead to one at 43-42 with an 18-8 run. Liberal inbounded the ball down one with .2 remaining but the desparate attempt missed.
Liberal continued their turnover turmoil with 24 in the loss. Woodward had 20 turnovers. Liberal was 1-10 from three and 3-9 at the foul line. Woodward was 5-17 from three and 10-15 at the foul line.
Shamari Lewis was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 25 points and nine rebounds. Kamilah Delgado had six points and 14 rebounds.
Woodward is 2-4 and beats Liberal for the first time since 2007. Liberal is 2-3 and plays at Hugoton Tuesday night at 6pm with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
