Seward Upset Bid Falls Short

The #11 Butler Grizzlies held off the Seward upset bid Tuesday night in the Green House. The Grizzlies upended the Saints 80-74 in the Green House. Seward led by as many as 10 in the first half and five in the second half. Seward struggled at the free throw line going 14-28 in the loss. The Saints are winless in the Green House at 0-3 and have dropped three straight.
The Saints were red hot early taking leads of 15-4 and 20-10. Butler recovered to lead 43-33 at halftime. The Saints took a 56-51 lead before Butler reeled in an 18-2 run to lead 69-58. SCCC trimmed the lead down to three at 77-74 with 19 seconds left.
Seward shot 43 percent from the field and 8-22 from three. Butler shot 46 percent and also made 8-22 from three and 22-35 at the foul line. Butler out-rebounded SCCC 41-37. Seward had 17 turnovers and the Grizzlies had 13.
Trayon Grant-Foster scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Benni Kazadi had 15. Muhammed Jobe added 11.
Butler is 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Jayhawk. Seward is 1-7 and 0-3 in the KJCCC. Seward hosts Pratt Saturday night at 8pm. KSCB and the Legend is the buyout sponsor.
