LA JUNTA, Colo. – The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team continued to struggle on the court, suffering an 89-81 road loss to Otero Community College on Saturday.

The Saints started the game off with a quick lead at 8-2 before the Rattlers went on its own 8-2 run to knot the game at 10 with 14:54 left in the half. Otero opened an 11-point advantage on Seward and ended up holding 41-33 halftime lead.

SCCC kept the game in reach, cutting the deficit to one on several occasions. Down 63-59 with just over eight minutes remaining, DeKwon Brown knocked down a three-pointer and then completed an old-fashioned three-point play to give Seward its first lead since early in the first half at 65-63 with 7:29 left in the game.

The Saints could not hold on as the Rattlers answered back with a pair of three-pointers to regain the advantage and go on to the victory.

The Saints fall to 0-4 on the season at 0-4. Seward continues its two-game trip through Colorado with a contest against Lamar Community College at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
