LIBERAL, Kan. — Enrollment opens this week at Seward County Community College for the last group of late-start, fall semester classes, the winter term classes, and spring semester classes slated to begin in January 2025.
“It’s hard to believe we’re already here,” said SCCC President Brad Bennett. “This semester is flying by and we’re ready to help students prepare for the next one.”
SCCC Director of Advising Stephanie Heger said it’s time for students to set plans for the spring. Dorms are full, enrollment is up, and many high demand classes fill quickly, she said.
“I’m encouraging students to sit down, look at the class schedule, and talk to their advisor as soon as possible,” she said. “That gives them a chance to get the courses they need to stay on track for graduation.”
Upcoming dates to keep in mind include:
• Winter term classes are open for enrollment. These courses run from Dec. 17 to Jan. 5, 2025. Like the late-start courses, students should expect to spend several hours daily on the work throughout the holiday season. Classes include Art Appreciation, Business English, Introduction to Business, Introduction to Computer Concepts, and Elementary Statistics. One section of Intermediate Algebra (for “second chance” students unable to complete the class previously) will also be offered, with instructor permission required. More classes might be added as the winter break approaches.
• Spring semester classes in all modes begin Jan. 13, 2025 and end May 14, 2025. Spring semester also includes a variety of “late start” classes, each with different start dates ranging from the end of January to March.
“With late-start and winter term classes, we are focused on providing the same content and quality as we offer during a class that takes the entire semester,” said SCCC Vice President of Academic Affairs Luke Dowell. “The difference is that we are providing options for students whose schedules are a barrier, or who encounter the unexpected and need to start class a little later than Jan. 13.”
A full schedule of classes may be viewed online at sccc.edu.
All students preparing to enroll should carefully note the delivery mode of classes listed on the online schedule, as on-campus, fully online, and hybrid courses are all listed. High school students who participate in the Saints Ahead Scholarship plan should consult with their high school counselor prior to enrollment.
